Doherty spoke to the SLA on behalf of Kokopellis

DOHERTY
Troy Councilman Bob Doherty, chair of the Public Safety Committee, appeared at the State Liquor Authority and spoke on behalf of the owners of Kokopellis, according to sources.
The SLA is investigating the Fourth Street bar in light of the recent melee that ended with five people arrested that night and eight officers injured, six to the point of needing hospital treatment. Since, two others have been arrested, one for throwing a trash can through the back window of a police cruiser.
Doherty hosted a well-attended Public Safety Committee meeting on Tuesday to hear from the public regarding the incident and allegations of police brutality. There is another scheduled for Next Wednesday to hear the police side of things.
The TPD is conducting a number of internal investigations and there are calls for an external agency to come in and take a look at whether or not officers used excessive force, as surveillance and cell phone video seem to indicate.
So, the question becomes, why is Doherty, an elected public official, advocating on behalf of the bar in front of a state agency when there are so many unanswered questions. And, he is at the same time holding hearings which are supposed to help answer the very same questions.
More on this story as it develops.

  1. Oh what a tangled web we weave. Did you see Mayor Ellen McNulty's letter in the pulse of the people defending the Troy cops. Funny how she forgot to mention many of those same cops work for her in Green Island. How could she forget that! She should write another letter detailing what cops work in green Island that were involved in this incident.

AND STOP TRYING TO FOOL THE PUBLIC.

  2. It is apparent that Doherty does not know what he is doing or what damage he did to the credibility of the council. H e must resign.

  3. If this is true then he needs to step down........He's an elected official he should know better than to discuss an open investigation.

  8. Doherty needs to step down. And this should be demanded by the council. The next time TPD has to go into Kokopellis and an officer gets hurt, Doherty will have blood on his hands. The department wants it shut down, other business' in the area would like to see them go and you are supporting them BEFORE all of the facts are in or investigations are complete, as a Councilperson? I'd make sure not to have a cocktail with dinner anywhere in Troy either buddy. Idiot.

  16. Handsome Bill Dunne swayed the council against the Cox family. He lied right to their faces. Rodney was devastated to see the Cox vote fail. Newcomer Robertson took 17 minutes to cast her vote. Its bizzarro world.

  17. WOW!!!!! You talk about strange!!! Lou talked about the "incredible operatunity in developing the city of Troy river front" on the same night that the administration pulled the Valentie deal from the city council agenda. Looks like Mr Dunne didn't tell the boys all the bad things coming with this proposals. Can't wait to see where this goes.

  18. Valente needs the riverfront property but Dunne needs a new kitchen and Wade needs a vacation home.

  21. Here is a quote from Buffoon Bob in the Record "“I certainly do not think any business should be shut down until we have a clear idea of what took place,” said Doherty. “This is an issue for us as a community since there are so many different views.”" He accompanies a guy who likened the TPD as the KKK and has already found the police guilty. He along with Pastor Willie have created a racial divide never seen in this city before. I would have paid cash to be there when the SLA told him he couldn't speak, I'm sure he said "don't you know who I am" ! Come spring there will be more 'for sale' signs than in all Troy history. Thanks Bob

    3. I agree, but Carmella doesn't have a clue, and she's a phony. Anastasia can't help that she's in over her head. And the big thing, is that Anastasia was actually liked by the people enough to get elected into office. So I say, lets give her a chance to grow. Bye bye Carmella, people in your own party worked against you last time. Hey Brother your ass

      Delete
    4. Funny, the only people Anastasia interacts with are people of color. She hasn't been at any of the functions I have, except during election time. Give her a chance to grow, ha! She got elected because of the political operatives working for the Dems. They got her and Teta-Sullivan elected through Erin's brothers connections, she didn't get elected on merit. She got elected because those behind the scenes paid for her seat. She's in over her head because she doesn't realize her seat was bought and paid for by the Dem's. If she does want to grow she needs to unload Tim, he's as close to a nutcase as Cox.

    5. You made one valid point. They got elected. Run candidates who can win, and you won't have to worry about them.

  28. As was said last night at the council meeting Jack Jr is not his father. So lets just judge Jack Jr on his own project , the old Wards Auto Body. It's a disgrace, he's never worked with the city or his neighbors. This family is a total negative for the city of Troy and that kooky uncle Bob is off the hook.

  30. Wow, Dougherty just does whatever he wants to and pushes the unethical limits all the time. Look what he did by unethically using City Council letterhead during the campaign and now he goes in front of the SLA on behalf of a bar that's part of a civil rights controversy he is presiding over.

Feel bad for the Troy cops, Doherty sure isn't n your side.
