Rockers for Bruno

FRENCH
It’s no secret former state Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno has a bunch of support in the Capital District as he literally fights for his freedom.
But today, on Live from the State Capitol with Fred Dicker on Talk 1300, he got a plug from an unlikely source – Jay Jay French, a founding member of the heavy metal band Twisted Sister.
French toed the line defending Bruno along with Dicker, the longtime state editor at the New York Post, who has spent hours on his radio show, and rightly so, bashing the U.S. Attorney’s Office for going after Bruno for a second time.
The politically astute French not only gave Bruno some lip service but the two are friends. Bruno has joined the rocker for dinner in New York City and Bruno has had him up to his Rensselaer County home for some R&R.
BRUNO
It’s an odd couple for sure. Twisted Sister epitomized the Big Hair Era of the 80s complete with long hair, ripped jeans and a devil be damned attitude, while Bruno was the “Dapper Don” of the state Senate always with an impeccable coif and tailored suits.
In addition, Dicker, who has an extensive collection of folk music he plays on air some of each Friday, played one of Twisted Sister’s most famous songs, “We’re not Gonna Take It.” Given the circumstances, I don’t think Pete Seeger did more than a quarter turn in his the grave.
In the end French called the Bruno trial a “witch hunt” and echoed Bruno’s main argument all along – that legislators are part time and being a consultant should carry the same import as being an lawyer.
French also summed up what must be one of Bruno’s biggest fears as the trial begins its third day – People think “all rockers are drug addicts and all politicians are corrupt.”
I'll link the podcast of Dicker's show as soon as I can. Until then, enjoy some Twisted Sister.

    1. This will be billed as the "Free Tibet and Joe Bruno we are the world concert". Dave has been religiously working out at Planet Fitness in perpetration for this summers concert. He has been playing Mott the Hoople cassette on his Sony Walkman cassette player. He has been seen in Vito's yard in a full gray sweatsuit trying to catch chickens and drinking raw eggs. Rumor has it he has the body of a hairless 15 year old Malaysian boy. Vito has been crushing grapes for his home made Italian wine on Sheerans wash board abs. After this summers concert tour he is going to be doing a workout video with Billy Blanks he's even been asked to be on this falls Dancing with the Stars.

  6. When things in Troy look bleak there is always a glimmer of light. I would like to thank Vito and Code officer McGrath for enforcing the law and having the latest Cox junkyard removed. All the junk cars have now been removed from the lot at 114TH Street. Finally justice prevails as it couldn't have been easy with Cox and his alliance with Mayor Lou and Kevin McGrath. The people of Lansingburgh thank them. I'm sure there may even be a free ice cream to show some appreciation.

  7. All this talk about concerts and singers and alive at 5 and no word yet from Vito what he has brewing this summer. For the first time ever he will welcome Al Bruno to the kelleher stage. He was planned to have a winger tribute band for his good buddy Sheeran. Word is there will be a cover charge for this show unless you are wearing hip hugger jeans Hightops are optional. This will allow for both Sheeran and jak cox jr to gain entry for free. New also this year he will welcome dire wolf to the riverfront park stage. Not the greatful dead tribute band but the actual dire wolf himself kreshnick He will have to answer the tough questions in the form of a spoken word concert. Questions will range from what is a dire wolf to why do u live in east greenbush and our favorite. Why do u drive a toaster around? For pig out Vito will have blue hand luke play a set. Awards will be given to bill dunne and the girl from engineering. Finally Vito has vowed to bring the city spokespersons of years past band to play. They have all played the same instrument with the exception of sibley who will play the bongos.
