Council to vote on issuing subpoenas tonight

At a special meeting tonight, the city Council will vote on whether or not to issue subpoenas for its ongoing investigation of controversial demolition projects in the city.
According to the notice, the Council will hold a special Finance Committee meeting and then a special meeting of the Council to “discuss and act on an ordinance to issue subpeona’s (sic) for the Council’s investigations.”

The Finance Committee will meet first following the 6 p.m. hearing tonight where four people will answer questions from the Council and the special meeting will convene shortly thereafter.
There are no names associated with the legal notice and it’s unclear if any names will appear on the actual ordinance the Council will vote on tonight.
Obvious names include Fire Chief Tom Garrett, Planning Commissioner Bill Dunne, Deputy Mayor Pete Ryan, Assistant Planner Andrew Kreshik and possibly Mayor Lou Rosamilia.
It’s unclear how the Council will vote but I’m hearing it won’t be unanimous.
The special meetings follow last week’s hearing that included testimony from former City Engineer Russ Reeves - who resigned amid the King Street demolition and demolition project at King Fuels in South Troy – and his assistant Barbara Tozzi, who submitted her retirement papers earlier this week.
Tonight, the Council will hear from four people: Mike Cristo, who owns the company that demolished the King Street buildings; Flora Carr, who was the point person for Bethel Baptist Church when it wanted to buy land behind Bomber’s Burrito Bar on King Street; Jack Haley, an engineer who was initially called to inspect the common wall between Bomber’s and the buildings that were demolished but was called off at the last minute; and Ryan Preston, who was described to me as an engineer working for the Troy Local Development Corp.
Those four witnesses are testifying of their own volition and were not issued subpoenas.

The FBI is investigating the King Street demolition as well as the proposed and squashed sale of the Scolite property and the installation of sidewalks in North Central. The King Fuels demolition was shut down while state and federal agencies investigate the discovery of asbestos at the site.

  1. Jim, thanks for describing who these people are for I've never heard of any of them other than Cristo from the news of the demolition. It's either a witch hunt or Rodney and Ken knew there was dirty deals and are putting Garrett, Ryan and Dunne in an unenviable position. As it stands there's multiple stories of who spoke to whom. Maybe Cristo can shed some light but the fact remains, someone is lying. And Flora Carr? Did she (the church) want to buy the King Street buildings? What's this all about? Talk about #Troycrazy whewww

    1. They actually put themselves into the unenviable positions with their bloated heads filled with grandiosity and greed, especially Dunne. Garrett is an unfortunate casualty of the whole mess, however, you lie down with dogs in flip flops (human and canine) and you're sure to end up with fleas!

    2. Exactly. Ask Fitzy how that works. He caught quite a few fleas last year lying down with morally tainted flash in the pan politicians. Look where it got him.

  2. In a situation like this it is not possible for any councilperson to not vote yes on subpoenas. They have the responsibility to get to the bottom of this mess.. As distasteful as this may be there is no doubt the citizens of Troy desire answers. We will see who has courage and who does not.

  3. Mayor Lou calls hasty presser to call council hearings a "witch hunt". Ha, trying to take a page out of Bruno's defense. Lou, you are no Joe.

  4. Rodney seems to be right on top of things.......Mayor you really look foolish trying to hide the truth, Lou you are now everything you said you were going to eliminate. I ask that you really do some soul searching and see if you think you are doing a good job. Honestly I think it's time for you to just move on, I just don't think your capable of running the city.

  5. Following twitter it appears Ian Silverman is working to hide the truth........and he's running to be a judge. He will make Bauer look like a saint.

  8. Rodney was poorly prepared tonight. There were about ten critical questions he never asked Preston or Cristo. Of course no one else asked them either, but he's the one running the show.

  10. The City needs a complete and thorough full blown audit by both State and the Feds....DiNapoli please please please get your auditors in there...just like the police have the right to invade a home and grab all evidence when there are obvious signs of a crime, State and Federal officials should heed to the public's cry for a full take over of the City's business....

  11. At the person who says Rodney wasn't prepared...I'm not bashing you..nor anyone else on this panel but isn't it about time "We The People".(...meaning the hard working, tax paying residents of Troy) assist our Councilman as they are the ones actually looking out for us and our best interest...is there a way for all of us to demand the City free up ALL the information on these issues at hand and that they publicly put on print to the newspaper the paper trail for the jobs that were performed...that way we can see who signed off on what...as a City we should all come together as a team and get this ALL out in the open once and for all....there seems to be issues with the City year after year after year after year and nothing ends up being done to actually fix the problems..just a band aid slapped on to cover up yet another wound....there is nothing saying that Rodney can't call back any if the people that are in question. Please email Rodney all those key questions you referenced he should have asked, we should be working together as a team not just continue to find what they didn't do..the public's input is vital and I am sure the council would appreciate it

    2. I could hear the patriotic music being played in the background while reading this post. A Call to Arms. Trojans UNITE! Cast aside your differences. Take Back your City! Yes We Can. Democrats destroying Democrats in the search for truth. Republicans looking better every day.

    3. How do we do this? Take back the City? Say what you want but where are our politicians like Francis Flynn, Toby Lyons, bud carrier,Bill Fagan,etc...they were a group that really cared about the City...worked well with their party as well as the other party...sure there was mud slinging back then but all in all they worked hard for a better Troy....

    4. 9:26 you are right on point. The major difference between those public servants and the current ilk on the Council is the self serving attitudes, specifically Wiltshire, Zalewski and gordon.
None of them give a hoot for Troy or its residents. They are all about publicity and grandstanding for free notoriety in the press.
Wiltshire wants to be Mayor at the expense of destroying the reputation of a decent, honorable man unlike former officials cited above who served to improve their community.
Zalewski only cares about control, vindictiveness, and pulling the strings attached to Wiltshire and Robertson to perform his nasty deeds.
Gordon needs a reality check. He is a nasty character who should look at his own glass house before casting stones at honorable people.

      Delete
    5. 10:24 then why is the FBI involved? The FBI started to look into city affairs before the council did. Honorable people is that what you call Bill Dunne Andrew Kreshik and Tom Garrett? People will go to jail over the King Fuel site work that was on the screw. How about that honorable man JR Casale who lied and blamed his son. If these are honorable people in your life you must be related.

  12. Neither party look good right now. It's been the same old story year after year...this one should do this, this one should do that...truth is each party that leaves city hall leaves no footprint just damage control to clean up.Each party is left struggling trying to figure out how things are done. There are no procedure manuals created and left as should be in order to be in compliance, it's a toss up year after year. There is alot of conflicts of interest that need to be addressed as well...but apparently having husbands and wives, sons and daughters, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, girlfriends, business associates of the City's relatives all being hired aren't considered conflicts of interest..bah...It's all about greed...not truly working for a better Troy...It's time for the residents of Troy to band together and demand a general census be completed by all City employees to see where the connections are I guarantee you will get to the root of the problem (no pun intended....but it seems to work!) I believe this is something that falls under the Ethics Department....they need all City employees audited and advised on what conflicts of interest are and what repercussions that need to be made if they are found guilty of breaking the code whether it's making the families themselves choose which family member needs to go or what have you....but something needs to be addressed because the City sure as heck is not doing well under the current hiring practices
