The correct agenda, email fun and the minority gets an attorney (UPDATED)

It has come to my attention the wrong agenda was actually sent to City Clerk Karla Guererri by Council President Rodney Wiltshire so she went ahead and sent it to the entire Council, as is part of her job. (I initially blamed Guererri for sending out the wrong agenda and then was told it should have been sent to Wiltshire for approval before the entire Council. Then I was told Wiltshire sent it to her with the expectation of sending it to the Council. I'm not sure where the wires got crossed but the fact remains the Council got the wrong agenda.)

WILTSHIRE
This morning, while trying to correct the post I wrote last night on the wrong agenda, I inadvertently deleted it in Blogger and did not have time to go back and modify the original in Word before going on the radio. Anyway, more on that later since the committee chairs really did not change at all.

A couple things stand out in the correct agenda: One is the Council is poised to hire an attorney for the two-member minority at a cost of $15,000; the second is the appointment of Lucille Taylor as deputy city clerk, which has at least one member projecting possible ulterior motives.
I’m not sure who Taylor is, but Councilwoman Lynn Kopka, D-At Large, who used to be president, sent an email to former Councilman Mark McGrath, R-District 2, stating that she is a friend of Councilwoman Anastasia Robertson, D-District 2, and the appointment was a way for Council President Rodney Wiltshire to buy her off.
“I think a friend of Anastasia – bought off with the appointment??,” Kopka (pictured right) wrote in an email that can be seen below. She then wrote to someone, likely Guererri, that Taylor’s voting records should be checked and gave her address. Kopka and McGrath - or at least McGrath - also had a laugh over Taylor’s resume, which can also be seen below. Others on the Council who got the wrong agenda reached out to Wiltshire too with a sense of bewilderment.
Also, the deputy city clerk position and its $40,000 salary were initially supposed to go to Lou Schneider, the assistant city clerk who makes $27,835. Schneider, who was recruited by county Democrats to run for Legislature, will remain in his current position at his current pay.
One last thing on Guererri, she had a rough start but things have been going pretty smooth of late and her not getting re-appointed has nothing to do with job performance and everything to do with politics since she is Kopka’s girl, and Kopka is Rensselaer County Chairman Tom Wade’s girl. Council President Rodney Wiltshire, however, isn’t anyone’s house … .
Politics also brings us to hiring an attorney, Kelly Cramer, for the two-member minority caucus at the same $15,000 rate as that of the attorney for the seven-member caucus, Joe Laccardi. The idea has been talked about every two years since Republican Carmella Mantello was the vocal opposition representing District 3 some dozen years ago but the majority of either party never granted the request.
It was never granted for two reasons: one, politics 101 dictates the object of the majority is to keep the minority in the minority; and two because the charter had said the Council’s attorney represents the entire body and not just members of one party. Of course, the attorney was invariably a friend of the majority so it never worked out all that well and I can see the rationale.
The differences now in Troy are twofold: The minority and majority don’t fight with each other but members of the majority are waging war amongst themselves; and the charter was changed in 2009 calling for the hire. Though, this is the first year it followed through.
In other words, it’s $15,000 of your tax money to hire an attorney for two members of the panel Councilmen Jim Gordon, R-District 1, and Dean Bodnar, R-District 3, who seem to be getting along just fine with the other seven and even got committee chairmanships. In the end, Robertson is the only one who opted not to take a chairmanship.
Also, according to the correct agenda, Matthew Waite will replace Lucy Larner as legislative assistant at a salary of $10,000.
Back to the top, according to the wrong agenda, Councilwoman Erin Sullivan-Teta, D-At Large, (pictured right) did not head up the Human Resources Committee. Rather, it went to Councilman Ken Zalewski, D-District 5 (pictured above.) In fact, Sullivan-Teta did not chair any committee.
That, of course, in my conspiracy theory driven brain, led me to believe that Wiltshire was “punishing” her for siding with Kopka. While it may have been wrong, it would have been a whole lot more fun if it were the right one.
The Council meets Thursday for its organizational meeting and then its first regular meeting with Wiltshire as president.
Below is the email between Kopka and McGrath as well as Taylor’s resume

  1. Rodney keep playing your little games. You will not have the I line in two years nor will you have Kenny. You'll be the Chair of the Restroom Committee and that will be it.

    1. I supported Rodney this past election and didn't bullet vote, hoping he might be something better for Troy, namely someone who truly wants the best and supports excellence. But, that email of his to Mr. Galuski? And, if he follows through i getting rid of Ms. Guererri and Ms. Larner, forget any future support, whether for Mayor or Dog Catcher. He'll be no different than the rest of Troy's inept politicians. Both those women have done excellent jobs and deserve to continue in their positions. This resume above is laughable and says a lot about the quality of people Rodney chooses. No thanks. Don't need a King or someone with a chip on his shoulder. Get real if you really want a better city and stop the gamesmanship. Zalewski is no better if he supports those folks losing their jobs.

    2. I'll give you Larner, she was awesome. But Karla was an AWFUL choice. Nice woman, but came off painfully unorganized every council meeting ... but maybe that was Kopka's fault?

  2. Just look how good this story could have been if Gordon and Bodner where not throw 15k away at a stupid attorney patronage job. Rodney is stepping on his who ha all over the place and Jim and Dean are making deals with him. This is his first hire that has had 12 jobs in the last 18 months and CLAMES to have degrees from several on-line colleges. Anastasia has been there for a minute and doesn't want the extra work of chairing a committee and has got a serial job loser the job that Lou Snyder was to get but is not because he's a friend of Wade and Jim and Dean won't say a word and will vote for her because there looking to get there pound of flesh for themselves. The Democratic Party is crumbling in front of use and where to stupid to take advantage of it. Can't wait to watch Dean and Jim service Rodney at first meeting this week.

Anastasia not only gets a free ride by not wanting a committee chair, she gets her friend a $40,000 politically appointed job too. Sweet. Lets all become her neighbors, do you think Anastasia would chair the committee for the political block party or would she be overextending herself?
Anastasia Puppet does this for the Rodney Puppeteer and the Anastasia Puppet gets a free ride. Wait??? Is that circus music I hear??? It is!!! Ladies and gentlemen now playing for the next 2 years is the Troy City Council Circus!!

I suggest we replace both of them with two bobble heads, they would be just as effective. Should have know since neither of them attended more than one or two council meetings prior to the election and neither have been seen at committee meetings. Frustrating to see the city continue to fall apart from within and a shame it is at our expense.

But, I'll miss his scowl at Thursday's meeting. That's about all he was good for. Well, he's pretty good at driving his Corvette around and posturing as Mr. Macho Man also. 13. Isn't it interesting that no one bashes Kopka on this blog. Everyone claims Mr.Wiltshire is a traitor for accepting the I-Line that was handed to him on a silver platter, but the truth lies in the fact that KOPKA is not publically consorting with republicans on DEM appointments. Where is the uproar? Where is the anger at her? Oh wait....you are probably all her minions doing her ridiculous bidding. She is done. And her lack of integrity proves that.

Take it from this outsider....she is coming across as the only puppeteer on the council. I read all these blogs and laugh, shake my head in embarrassment for our beautiful city and consider moving because of all the politicals hacks like the ones represented on this page. You are all trying to hold onto this fabricated power, and it is just sickening. Why not try just supporting our elected for once? WE elected them and now we have them for two years. So why not encourage them and guide them to do the things we need instead of obsessing over power and party affiliation.

Grow up. It's time to govern now.

  41. Just in case you missed it, the Thursday night council meeting was attended by local attorney, failed judicial candidate and renown bumper car driver Amy O'Connor. Amy sat next to mayor Lou and was very studious taking notes throughout. This leads to the rumors that Corp. Counsel Silverman will be appointed DA by the governor and Mrs. O'Connor will "slide" into the Corp. Counsel's Office for the city. Please Lou, don't give her a car, better she slides into office than 5 parked cars.

  44. @ jan 11 9:08pm....actually I am the chubby chick and I'm offended you think I posted that shameful, grammatically inaccurate post. I may be chubby, but, I am more intelligent than you assume. Although I read these blogs, I never post on them. I would rather spend my time doing constructive things, not posting about ridiculous BS in Troy,

    1. Hold on. Are you the very chubby chick who works for the Working families party and lied under oath to protect your little democrat friend john Brown? by the way is Brown in jail yet?

    5. It's laughable that many of you are so gullible. I have a name, and it's Sara. If you chose to impersonate me, please do a better job. I read these blogs daily, and post when I see an opportunity to be antagonistic towards crazy political insiders who think this blog matters to anyone but them. You are not relevant. This blog is simply entertainment, not unlike watching a train wreck of a political career come to an end. Just pure political satire.

I never lied under oath, and I am NOT friends with John Brown, nor have I ever been. Now let the conspiracies run rampant.....

    2. Your simple minded explanation for something you know nothing about, well that simply doesn't concern me. You read into things the way you want to interpret them and I refuse to attempt or try to change your mind. You will believe what you want to and your are absolutely entitled to your own opinion, even if that opinion is dead wrong.

    3. Never let facts get in the way of a good roasting (Anonymous Jan 14th at 2:18 pm). Sara changed her testimony through her lawyer right after her first testimony in accordance with the law. The fact that you don't understand the law or what actually happened just shows your ignorance. You want to get Smith. Let's talk about not prosecuting Mac for obstruction of justice (throwing the phone away), the Browns, Mac, et al. for witness tampering (getting Defiglio a job in Vermont), the witness statement forgery.

    1. She changed her statement four times ( or maybe five) to protect LoPorto. Her final statement was the best---"I recall three years after the fact LoPorto's exact words when he handed me those ballots. Each of my former sworn statements were too soon after the incident for me to remember but now, three years later, I have perfect recollection."
If the buffoon special prosecutor charged her with perjury, he could have had at least one conviction from the trials.

    2. Wow. Actually quoting me on something I have never said, that is grounds for slander. Will you all stop at nothing to demean other people?

Furthermore, I never CHANGED my statement, not once. I simply added one simple phrase that I remembered after the fact. That happened on one occasion, during the first trial. Attacking a witness is low. I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and witness statements made by the accused, that does not make me guilty. All of you were lucky I came forward at all. If you recall, I was the first witness to go to the police and give a statement, no one sought me out. I protected no one, I simply told the truth about what little information and situations I was present at or had direct knowledge of. I did all of this under direct threat from the special prosecutor and the County Chairman Tom Wade (who has physically threatened me).

I am certain the truth will never come out. I encourage you to ask Gary Galumpski and Godfather Tom Wade who was really involved. Is it baffling to anyone else that Tom (the one who orchestrated this entire event) was never prosecuted or brought up? Does it bother you that he has Trey Smith in his back pocket? You are all commenting on the wrong thing and asking the wrong questions and accusing the wrong people.

I no longer work at the WFP, for a variety of reasons. But, the simple fact remains that the WFP and its registrants were the real victims here. They were defrauded by the DEMOCRATIC party, and no one else. The DEMS think they can spin this story and run laughing all the way to their respective patronage jobs. Maybe they were right because none of you are talking about them. Maybe, just maybe we would not have spent half a million dollars of taxpayer dollars going after the wrong people if Tom Wade hadn't been protected or bought off trey smith.

You can continue attacking me, or you can actually ask the right questions and go after the real culprits here. Your choice.

Side note: I was never charged with perjury because I did not commit it. To commit perjury you actually have to lie, I did not. I went through the legal system and reported as soon as I remembered specific information (which was never a change to my story, just an addition). So if you are done being slanderous (I would say Libel but that would be admitting that this blog was a not a joke made for satire.), we can all move on. Don't think that you have any sort of anonymity here because you don't. I have plenty of techy friends who tell me exactly who and where you post from. Thanks.

    4. Tom Wade physically threatened you? Why didn't you report that? I believe it's called harassment. Let's face facts, you're Rodney's lacky and Rodney and Wade don't get along. If Rodney is mayor you get a patronage job, until then Wade still controls the administration and you're on the sidelines. Plus if you and Wade tussled I'd bet the rent on you.

You can type all you want to make yourself feel better but everyone looks at you for the liar you are. You left the WFP that's a joke we threw you out on your ass. Funny how everyone talks about that evil Tom Wade but he's still there. You should go post on that other site with all the losers from your good old days. How sad a person you are.
