Troy grant writer moves on

ROHR
Bill Rohr, a grant writer, is the latest to flee the administration of Mayor Lou Rosamilia.
Rohr follows the departure of City Engineer Russ Reeves who resigned amid two controversial demolition projects – one on King Street and the other at the King Fuels site in South Troy. Also, Reeves assistant, Barbara Tozzi, a 30-plus year employee, also retired.
While the administration didn’t quite hang Reeves out to dry, it fell well short of backing him up when questions arose about the projects.
It was no secret Rohr wasn’t happy about the way Reeves was treated and while he didn’t abruptly resign, he did start exploring other options. Obviously, one of the options turned out to be better than staying in City Hall, where he has been writing grants for nine years.
Reeves and Tozzi voluntarily testified at the ongoing Council investigation into the demolition projects. Since there have been two other hearings one featuring the owner of the King Street buildings, attorney Don Boyajian, the crew that did some demolition work at the South Troy site and former Mayor Harry Tutunjian.
Tutunjian said Boyajian contacted him in 2011 about the King Street properties to inquire about an emergency demolition. Tutunjian said he refused to consider it since there was no justification. Some two years later, Fire Chief Tom Garrett ordered the buildings demolished while Reeves was on vacation.
Boyajian said “miscommunication” was running rampant in City Hall.
As for the South Troy demolition, the owner of DiTanno and Sons admitted the crew did not follow the demolition plan as approved by an engineer - which really comes as no surprise given the footage that was leaked.
The next hearing will feature some City Hall employees, who will, according to a deal struck by Rosamilia and Council President Rodney Wiltshire, testify voluntarily and not via subpoena.

  3. Instead of some soul searching to try to get a grasp on how to stop the bleeding our deputy mayor's response "that guys a weird dude. If only Lou and Pete knew what people thought of the job they're doing, well they'll know in the next election. Worst administration ever.

    3. Bill I don't even know you but I am deeply saddened that yourself,Russ and Barbara have left the City Hall, however, I do NOT blame you, many of US would too if we could financially but held trapped by the paycheck and the economy. Our City has fallen, there is no Troy Pride anymore. There is nothing but greed now.As an employee I don't even care about getting a raise and I am at the bottom of the fish bowl, what I want is a City that works together as a team as it once used to or at least that is the stories I was told how it used to be. But rules have been broken and they have been broken by the administrations. It is the Mayors responsibility to slap those in the face to tell them who is in charge and make things right again and stop worrying about whose feelings they are going to hurt and just follow the God damn charter...that's what it is there for.

    5. People are leaving because they stress their grievances, show where the issues lie and where it is referenced in the charter how things are suppose to be done but told there are exceptions....I don't see any exceptions that apply to these situations and I don't read in between the lines either (unless it's specifically put into parenthesis like this)

  8. Democrats are in control and taking our city down, why does Tom Wade have his address on my committeeman petition as a Highointe address. I ride by his house on 5th Av every morning on my way to work and his car is parked on 105th St every day. I thought there was no voter fraud!

    4. It's not a crime to own two homes but I'd be interested to see which one gets the star exemption as only one household can have one...yes...only one exemption and if it's listed under a relatives name I'd like someone to look into that

  14. No one is "fleeing" the Rosamilia administration. People come and go in any administration. Nice partisan slant, Jim. It's interesting how you continually ignore the outrageous Republican patronage mill that county government has become. Cash strapped county somehow finds money to CREATE jobs for ex mayor and his wife? Who's next... the family bulldog? If they were Dems you'd be all over it.

    1. Don't upset the Republican apple cart, Jim. Remember their mantra: Our Taxes Are High Because of Unfunded Mandates!

It has nothing to do with expensive no-show patronage jobs, jail misconduct and big lawsuit settlements, reckless borrowing, sky high insurance premiums, or six figure embezzlements right under the nose of our county executive. Keep drinking that Kool Aid, bro!
