Jill Kehn will become the second
city court judge alongside incumbent Judge Chris Maier, who led the three
candidates running for two spots on the bench, according to unofficial results
from the Rensselaer County Board of elections.
When she is sworn in on Jan. 1, she will become Troy's first ever female city court judge.

Kehn, who ran on the Republican,
Conservative, Independence, Green and Working Families Party lines, ended up
with 30.48 percent, or 4,457 votes to Democrat Keith Gorman’s 24.74 percent, or
3,618 votes. Maier, a Democrat who had four additional lines, ended with 44.55
percent, or 6,515 votes.

The newly created position carries
a 10-year term.
Gorman beat the Democratic Party’s
pick, Troy Corporation Counsel Ian Silverman, in a primary to earn a spot on
the ballot.

Kehn came under fire when it was
revealed her law license was suspended from 1999 to 2005 because she failed to
follow the two-year registration requirements. It was also disclosed she
practiced law during the time her license was suspended. She said she was unaware
of the suspension because she was raising her children, taking care of an ill
family member and had moved.
Another loss for Wiltshire. Down goes Gorman.
ReplyDeleteI want to congratulate Jill and also thank her for her brave victory last night. When you think the Troy voters are so brainwashed by the Dem mantra we have been given a glimmer of hope. Thank you for running a clean campaign and not bowing to the slop as did your opponent. In city hall today I wonder if the Lou, Pete and Dunne will be still bragging "no matter how bad we are this city will only vote dem" ? Wake up call.

I'd be nervous if I were Wade and his puppets. By the way, has Jill kept up with the requirements for getting her license renewed? You know, it's not just the check anymore. Has anybody checked into this before she sits on that bench? I sure hope so.

DeleteToday's lesson teaming up with Rodney and the Coxs family is like pissing your pants in a black suit. It's a warm feeling but no one notices you. I hope Rodney and the boys got a lesson from Tom Wade last night threw the Gorman loss. Wade had a republican beat your man wait till next year when he has all his candidates in your election. Your all done.
ReplyDeleteI was going to vote for Gorman until I got the letter from Bob Doherty asking for my vote for him. The death knell was seeing Robert Cox putting up signs for him and posting his support fro Gorman on Facebook.

DeleteIf you are saying Tom Wade is the one responsible for Keith Gorman's loss yesterday, then Tom Wade and his puppets should be looking for a good lawyer because they will need one. Are you that stupid to share that information with the public? You may think you have your actions covered but the nature of people is to share the "dirt" they know. And if you remember your history which by your comments is questionable, people have lost their jobs and whatever little reputation they had for doing the very things you have said. Also, for all those who blame the Gorman camp for Mailing Permit 730, they were not the ones who where responsible for mailing that...but I know who is. You have opened a can of worms that I know you will regret.
