King Fuels video explains a bunch (VIDEO CONTAINS GRAPHIC LANGUAGE)

I’ll readily admit to not being an engineer, or versed in the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or qualified in any way to determine what is safe and not safe when it comes to knocking down a building.
But, I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that when one of your guys has to run away from the crumbling structure that there are better, and safer, ways to go about it.
The two videos below (they are the same but one is of better quality) is of the demolition at the King Fuels site that was shown at a recent public hearing held by the Council. Casale Excavating, which is associated with Casale Construction, was contracted to do work at the site, according to published reports. Though, it is unclear who actually knocked the building down.

I saw a bit of it on the news but haven’t seen it since and have not see the entire thing until someone sent it to me earlier today.
I have to say it gave me a chuckle, and certainly justifies how upset former City Engineer Russ Reeves was with how things were being done down there. Upset enough to resign.
Couple that with the fact patrons were allowed to keep patronizing Bomber’s while crews knocked the building down next door on King Street and there is also no reason to question why the Council is conducting an investigation into both matters.

It's really no wonder why there are three federal agencies and a state agency looking into things either. I mean, really, what's a little asbestos when you are dropping buildings on your own guys?

  5. Jim, You have to make a correction. This was not Casale, it was DiTonno, coordinated by PCS.
    Again, NOT CASALE

    4. Correct they were down there but that wasn't them on that demolition, you would think the person who wrote the article would of done his homework before posting it

    5. But they were trespassing when the Mayor told them to stay out. Mr Casale seems to think he can bully anyone...are we in for another issue like he had with north greenish or was it east Greenbush where he threatened officials?

      Delete
    6. I think it was North Greenbush but the folks were CB Smith and his stand-up lawyer Sabo. Wouldn't call them officials and really can't blame Casale for shutting up those two clowns.

  8. The same ditonno that tore down the wrong building in albany with russ reeves? Yes sir.
The same Ditonno that has been doing almost all of the emergency demo work in the city via russ reeves. And now he is on the run and the investigation has been going on for longer than a few weeks. Prior to ditonno, it was dans hauling that did all the emergency work for years.....all through....you guessed it, russ reeves. Pay to play? much more than that.....follow that dirty money trail.

PS check Ditonno and Casale for proper insurance, specifically for demolition. And dont forget about prevailing wage requirements as well.

    1. That's funny because that's how the City hires and promotes their employees. By asking their brother mother or sister if they do good work.

    1. and that means nothing in terms of his issue.

    2. Oh boy it sure does because another relative of theirs works in City Hall that is definitely a conflict of interest at the VERY least because that means they all are getting information on what bids come in and how to bid lower. Oh my God! God I hope someone important sees these threads because this definitely warrants The Mayor,City Council and the Ethics Commission and maybe even Civil Service to look into that. Wow that opens a huge can of worms.

      Delete
    3. Who is the son in law? City Hall you better get all your ducks in a row because that officer needed to advise the City of Troy of any outside employment and had the City known of this they could NOT approve it if Casale does business with Troy alot.Red Flag.Red Flag.Red Flag.

      Delete
    4. Not to mention his niece being put into a sweet job at city hall

      Delete
    5. Ha! The Ethics Commission is Dem controlled with the Majority appointed by the Mayor and the other Dems are all contributors to the Dem campaigns. If you even think they will do anything, think again.

      Delete
    6. Competitive bidding doesn't work like that. Bids are read aloud PUBLICALLY....no one gets information on low bidder prior to the openings of the bids......

    7. Except relatives which runs amuck in City Hall. Listen I'm not at stupid as you look, everyone knows the relations that are currently going on due to the one with the big mouth in City Hall who has police visiting them all the time

Leave people and their employment alone. Skills strong work ethics and experience lead to the placement of the individuals you speak of.

      Delete
    9. Won't do 749. People with experience PAY and TAKE and PASS in the top three to get those positions. THAT IS NYS Civil Service Law. Show me that person's job application and education background which is required. Not including the on the job training THAT ANYONE can excel with. You can't do it,can you? Fraud fraud fraud

      Delete
    10. Placement is done by top three on exams AND work experience as indicated on the applications. Are you saying people that pay and take the exams don't have goid work ethics or experience?

    11. Looks like penny b is back on the blog. Whats the obsecion with people and employment

      Delete
    12. Don't know who penny b is but my name is Carol and I have the obsession sweetheart. My obsession is that a talented man left a job he loved due to the mayhem going on in City Hall. I'm sure I've been around longer than you and have seen the issues getting worse and worse and more and more dedicated employees of the City leaving due to the hiring of idiots from the outside that do not place any true value on the City they work for, it's all just greed now, no real progress is being made, it's all going downhill. From what I understand there are alot of violations going on in regards to this most recent issue and it all stems around the employees so that is my obsession anyhow, why do you ask? Are you offended by the truth or my comments? Did I strike a cord, I would have to say I did because otherwise you wouldn't have responded as you did.

    13. Hey City Hall employee, MOST City EMPLOYEES are hired based on that,I was one, I worked there for until I couldn't take anymore. My friend placed first on a list and didn't get the position because they gave it to someone's kid that works for the City then they hired a few bimbos that wear mini skirts up to their be cause they dated someone's son .....instead of older, more mature professionals, then the fact our union was run by a puppet ...I had to leave and go to private sector..too much corruption...that bull doesn't happen in the real world

      Delete
  11. A very low bid with the promise of a huge change order at the end.....approved by city hall.

or better yet take a look at all the checks cut for demo work in the last few years, and compare them to the "bids".

  12. Does ethics or the council ever see this? Doesn't the public outcry heed an investigation into this?

  16. As tax payers, you PAID for it. FOIL it. They HAVE to free up the information and provide the information to you in a timely manner to anyone requesting the information. By LAW, they cannot stall nor deny your request.Looks like their so called "extremely talented" staff isn't so talented.
